The German Friends of the Osek Monastery
Since its founding in 1996, our organization has worked closely
with the Czech Friends of the Osek Monastery under the chairmanship
of Dr. Norbert Krutsky with the goal of furthering the reconstruction
of the Osek Monastery.
The more than 470 members of our German
organization are concerned above all that a new monastic life
flourish in the Cistercian abbey and that Osek again become
a spiritual and cultural center of Christianity in the region.
We are also aware that this has a great significance for German-Czech
understanding. Within the framework of the diverse, cross-border
activities in the region, a working group was formed in 2003,
dedicated to the restoration of the historic gardens and
grounds of the monastery.
The Gardens Committee is active independently
under the auspices of the Friends in preparing and implementing
projects, searching for sponsors and applying for grants. |
